Dear Partner RE: Update on Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan Following the recent earthquake and tsunami that hit North-Eastern Japan, we wanted to update you on how this has affected our organisation. We have received communication from our colleagues in Japan that all OKI employees are safe and doing well in light of the circumstances. Most of our Japanese operations have been relatively unaffected. The production site in Fukushima where some of our dot matrix products are manufactured, has unfortunately experienced some damage. Although manufacturing operations at the Fukushima facility were suspended after the quake, they have now partially resumed and OKI is currently working hard towards a quick, full-scale recovery. All other OKI Japanese operations are business as usual. The majority of products manufactured at the Fukushima facility are sold in Japan and in some countries overseas; therefore, the immediate impact on products shipped to the overseas market is relatively low. The Fukushima plant is located more than 70 km from the affected nuclear plant and, as such, is well outside the current exclusion zone. OKI established an Earthquake Disaster Recovery Task Force at its headquarters on 11th March which is being led by OKI’s President, Hideichi Kawasaki. The Task Force will gather information on its Group employees, family and sites near the disaster-affected area and will take necessary measures to support customers and the affected area in order to start the recovery process. OKI’s headquarters will provide full support for this effort. Our thoughts are with our colleagues and the people of Japan during this very difficult time and it is our priority to minimise the impact of recent events on our staff, customers and partners worldwide. We will remain in constant contact with our Japanese colleagues as they continue to monitor and assess the situation and will keep you updated if circumstances change. Kind Regards Harry Takahashi | |
